Kidz VidFilter Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Kidz VidFilter handles information while parents and guardians configure website, social media, and YouTube safety controls on iOS.

Effective date: October 2, 2026

1. Information We Collect

Kidz VidFilter is designed to keep most parental-control information on the device. The app may store approved and blocked websites, website categories, social media controls, approved and blocked YouTube channels and videos, Kids Safe YouTube settings, parent preferences, watch requests, protection status, and PIN-protection settings using iOS app storage and App Group storage shared by the app and its extensions.

Kidz VidFilter does not require an app account and does not upload these local lists, settings, or watch requests to a Kidz VidFilter cloud service. Information leaves the device only as needed for normal internet access and third-party content that a user chooses to load, including YouTube content, as explained below. Kidz VidFilter does not collect browsing information through a developer-operated analytics service.

2. How Kidz VidFilter Uses Network Filtering

Kidz VidFilter uses Apple Network Extension and VPN-related technology to apply filtering rules on the device. iOS may display a VPN indicator while this protection is active. This filtering function is used to allow or block websites and categories; it is not a general commercial VPN service.

To decide whether a destination should be allowed, the filtering extension may process domain names and DNS-level request information needed to compare a request with the parent’s rules. Domain or DNS requests required to reach an allowed internet service may also be handled by the device’s configured network and DNS providers in the ordinary course of internet access. Kidz VidFilter does not send this filtering information to a developer-operated server.

The filtering feature is not designed to read private messages, passwords, chat content, emails, or unrelated personal content. Its purpose is to make allow-or-block decisions at the domain or request level.

3. Safari Content Blocking

Where supported by iOS and Safari, Kidz VidFilter may provide Safari content-blocking rules. These rules are created from the parent’s selections and applied locally through Apple’s content-blocking system. Websites that are allowed to load remain subject to their own privacy practices.

4. Kids Safe YouTube

The optional Kids Safe YouTube viewer lets a parent or guardian manage approved and blocked channels, approved and blocked videos, and restrictions relating to YouTube Shorts and live content. Parents can use PIN-protected controls to change these choices.

A child can submit a watch request for content that is not already approved. The request and the related video or channel details are kept primarily in local iOS or App Group storage so the parent can review, approve, or decline the request. Kidz VidFilter does not upload watch requests to a Kidz VidFilter account or cloud service.

Approved videos may be shown in an embedded YouTube player. Loading or using that player connects the device to Google or YouTube, as described in the next section. YouTube content and availability can change, so these controls are intended to support, not replace, appropriate parental supervision.

5. YouTube and Third-Party Content

When YouTube content, thumbnails, or an embedded YouTube player are loaded, Google or YouTube may receive information normally associated with an online request, such as the device’s IP address, device or browser information, cookie or Google account state, and interactions with the player. Google and YouTube process that information under their own privacy policies and terms, not this Privacy Policy.

Parents should review the Google Privacy Policy and YouTube Terms of Service. Kidz VidFilter is an independent app and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Google or YouTube.

6. Children’s Privacy

Kidz VidFilter is intended to be installed, configured, and managed by a parent or legal guardian. Parents control approved and blocked content, review watch requests, and manage the app’s protection and PIN settings.

Kidz VidFilter does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through a Kidz VidFilter account, analytics system, or developer-operated cloud service. A child’s locally created watch request is presented to the parent on the device and is not used to build an advertising or behavioral profile.

7. No Sale of Personal Information

Kidz VidFilter does not sell personal information. It also does not share personal information with data brokers.

8. Advertising and Tracking

Kidz VidFilter does not include advertising SDKs, serve its own advertising, or use app information for cross-app tracking. The app does not include a developer-operated analytics service.

YouTube content shown in the embedded player is controlled by Google or YouTube and may include third-party content or advertising. Any information processed by Google or YouTube when that content loads is governed by their policies and is not used by Kidz VidFilter for advertising or cross-app tracking.

9. Data Security

Kidz VidFilter limits routine data handling by storing parental-control information in iOS app or App Group storage and by using Apple’s app sandbox, extension controls, and device security features. PIN protection helps prevent casual changes to parent settings, but it is not a substitute for securing the device with an iOS passcode.

No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Parents should keep iOS up to date, protect the device and PIN, and review the privacy settings of third-party content providers.

10. User Choices and Data Removal

Parents and guardians can:

  • edit or remove local approved and blocked website, channel, and video lists;
  • approve, decline, or remove local watch requests;
  • change Kids Safe YouTube, category, social media, Shorts, and live-content settings;
  • disable Kidz VidFilter protection and supported Safari content blocking; and
  • uninstall the app.

Uninstalling the app generally removes its locally stored app data, subject to iOS behavior and the presence of any related app component that uses the same App Group. Uninstalling Kidz VidFilter does not delete information held independently by Apple, Google, YouTube, a network provider, or another third party; those services provide their own controls.

11. Third-Party Services

  • Apple iOS, Network Extension, App Groups, and Safari: provide device storage, local filtering, extension communication, content-blocking, and operating-system controls.
  • Google and YouTube: provide YouTube content, thumbnails, and the embedded video player when those features are used.

Kidz VidFilter does not use third-party advertising, analytics, or developer cloud-storage services. Third-party operating systems, websites, networks, and media services apply their own terms and privacy practices to information they process.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when Kidz VidFilter’s features, technical architecture, third-party services, or legal requirements change. The revised policy will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date. Where appropriate, material changes will also be communicated in the app or through another reasonable notice.
